A Homely Girl Named 'Jimmy'
Since my early childhood days, I've been deeply in love with animals. Until the age of 4 years, I lived in a village in Chandausi, which is a district of Uttar Pradesh and studied there for 2 years. Having a cattle farm in the village, I use to be attached with all the cattle and since childhood, I have been in love with animals.
I was so attached to them, that I was supposed to do all the work related to them - like feeding the buffaloes and cows, to milk them, and to even taking care of calf's. My love for pets is purely genuine, and so a natural affection towards them automatically generated from the start.
The Unplanned Entry of Jimmy
I adopted a white Pomeranian, female dog some 11 years back, and the entry of her into my home was totally unplanned.
One day, as a kid I was playing on my roof and on the other side my neighbours were playing with a pet. I saw her and suddenly my neighbours said to me "Are you interested in taking care of her?" They were soon planning to abandon her to a shelter home just because of their busy schedule. They were unable to take care of her... So suddenly, as a kid I thought why not, and I said "Yes, I am ready to adopt her." That's how I got her.
She was so cute, that I and my family of 4 (including father, mother and younger brother) found it irresistible to adopt her, and to take her in our arms. While we decided to adopt her, I decided to name my baby 'Jimmy'.
Talking about her existence in my life, from the moment she came into my life, her activities have made me very happy and each member of my family is attracted to her. With days passing on, Jimmy became an important member of my family and there is no moment which we spend without her.
'A Homely Girl'
Jimmy is a complete homely girl and likes to spend time with all the family members. Her daily routine starts at 5 AM in the morning with me, where I take her for a morning walk and after that it's breakfast time for her. In the breakfast, she always wants some milk, egg, and bread and then rest is on her mind.
After some rest and playing (which she enjoys at most), comes her lunch time and trust me, such a veggie she is, chapatti with dal is her favourite followed by chilled water. The good thing is that whatever we eat she wants that ditto. Cashew nuts and groundnuts are Jimmy's all time favourite snacks.
Sunday is the day I have fixed to groom her, and she hates me most because bathing is not on her list. Jimmy is more close to my mother than any other person in my family. Wherever my mother goes, she follows her footsteps.
Me and Jimmy
Speaking about the relationship that I share with Jimmy, we both fight and play a lot with each other just like any other brother and sister. My relationship with Jimmy is totally depended on love and care, which I have given to her. She is a complete home guard; no one can enter in my house without her permission.
But if anyone treats Jimmy with love, she will become your best friend pour all her love onto you and this would eventually let you enter in my house. We all cannot imagine our life without her, as we have connected emotionally ourselves with her, and the aura which she has created is very positive on our lives.
I cannot define my relationship with Jimmy, as this love can only be felt and it's very hard to express in words. People with pets in their home can easily understand this feeling of love and emotion rather than those who don't have one.
Understand a Pet as a Child
A pet for me is equivalent to a human baby. Just like a mother takes care
of her baby in bathing, grooming, educating and training, likewise a pet should also be taken care of. The human parent has to take responsibility for each and everything, from diet to grooming and medication, to spending time with them, and most importantly knowing them.
Animals cannot speak but they will say their things through their gestures. Whatever they want, they will give you signs for those things and you have to identify them. Not only this, in return what you want to tell them they will also understand and respond.
Always remember, your pet reacts according to your behaviour with them. If you scold them too much, they will never come easily to you but on the other hand, if you treat them with love, affection and care they will return it double.
One thing which I have observed during these years is that pets are the biggest stress-busters. No matter whatever the problem you have, or how tensed you are, if you play with them for 10 -15 minutes trust me, you will feel relaxed.
